Lots of little actions really add up!

Recently a wise woman said to me, if you can do it in under a minute then don't leave it till later! So simple and yet I find myself constantly putting off small tasks thinking it's not that urgent it can wait. Next thing I know I have a trashed house and no weekend left to relax!
Here are some examples of quick tasks that rapidly add up.
Dishes
Yep, this one is probably on everyone's least favourite list! Each morning after I've forced myself out of bed I make a cup of coffee. A single spoon, a mug, another spoon from feeding the dog...
Suddenly it's lunchtime and I find a sink full of little things! My breakfast bowl, more spoons, my partners coffee paraphernalia; The list goes on! If I had just started by quickly washing that spoon, then I would've been more likely to wash the coffee mug when I bought it back to the sink. The same for my breakfast bowl, and (hopefully) my partner would've been more inclined to wash his own dishes too!
Unfortunately at the end of the day, I find a huge pile of dishes and the idea of cleaning them becomes overwhelming (and often someone else's job!).
Since washing up each item when I bring it back to the sink my kitchen is no longer adding more items to my ever growing to do list.
If you have a dishwasher the same applies. Either wash and put each item in the drying rack straight away or put it into the dishwasher. No more dirty piles of dishes!

Lounges, Pillows, and Throw Rugs
A quick and easy way to give yourself a rush of dopamine and quickly freshen up what is often the main living area of the home.
You'd be surprised by how much you can achieve in a single minute! I often do this one before bed each night so I wake up with a fresh living space but it can also be done during the day if you're feeling a bit down and need a quick achievement to boost your morale!
Pick up those pillows, straighten cushions, fold the blankets and give the lounge a quick brush down (with your hand is fine). BEHOLD! A fresh living space and an easy mood booster ;)

Don't put it down, Put it Away!
Finally, my absolute favourite mantra. This is how I keep on top of my home and make sure I don't get piles of random items cluttering up my home.
Every time I have something in my hand and I go to leave it on the kitchen counter, dining table, or even just throw on the bed, I say to myself "Don't put it down, Put it away!" and more often than not the item lives in the same room anyway. It is honestly so much quicker and easier to just put these things away immediately rather than leave them for your valuable free time. Future you will thank you for it!
I hope these tips help you keep your space tidier and give you back more time to rest and relax!
